My Granddaughter Anna

The twinkle in her eyes

That captivating smile

A dimple in her cheek

Makes a heart whisper

A million sighs

Her laughter is infectious

And her voice is very precious

She was named Anna

A name that conjures simplicity

And it can never be said

That she is guilty of duplicity

Her loveliness rivals a budding rose

And the innocence of her face always shows

Not a bone in her body is malicious

And no one could ever say she is capricious

She is only ten and I can’t wait for her to grow

For I know with each passing year

Will set a grandfather’s heart aglow
